Of course, trying to lay down fabric over a complex shape that is covered in a tacky basecoat will always be tough. I'd probably look to cut and joint if getting decent weave alignment is impossible or, perhaps, look to let the basecoat cure first. You could then key it and try to lay down the fabric with the aid of some spray tack.
That way you'd likely get it to drape and conform more easily to the shape but you'd be relying up the initial coat of resin to soak in and achieve a good mechanical bond with the basecoat, which isn't always a given.
